Prep School lesson

The full range of traditional preparatory and National Curriculum subjects is taught, as well as Latin, to Common Entrance and Public School scholarship level. The School has decades of experience and success in preparing pupils for the leading Public schools across the country, with every child going to their first choice school, and 30% gaining a Scholarship.

The children are taught in small classes, the average being twelve to a form. After the first year in the prep, a child is taught entirely by specialist teachers. Science is taught according to the Nuffield course and is divided early into Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

All Pre-Prep and Prep pupils have access to the School's Information Technology Room, which contains the latest technology with controlled access to the Internet and email.

A combination of small Prep School classes and wide access outside lesson times has enabled a high degree of computer literacy to be achieved within the School.

We offer both academic scholarships, and subject to voice trials, a number of St. Edmundsbury Cathedral Chorister scholarships, for both boarding and day pupils.

Art is an essential part of the curriculum, and all children are taught by a full-time specialist. The children are engaged in conventional fine arts as well as a range of creative crafts through the Design Technology department. Children's work is displayed around the school. Each child is encouraged to believe in their own contribution, irrespective of ability.
